Marketing & Events Assistant (Placement Student/Graduate)
This position is available on a fixed-term basis from 1 August 2025 – 31 July 2026
This role is available to BU current students or recent (within 6 months) BU graduates.
This role offers an exciting and challenging opportunity to influence Bournemouth University’s student recruitment activity for 2026-2027, whilst at the same time developing your event leadership, project and marketing communications skills.
Working in the Events Team, this post holder will support targeted events and marketing communications activities to assist in the recruitment of undergraduate and postgraduate students to Bournemouth University, alongside working on events to enhance the Staff & Student experience.
You will raise awareness of the benefits of Bournemouth University to potential students and their influencers and will support the Events Team in related marketing, student recruitment and event planning tasks.
The work of the Events Team is extensive, from activities on and off-campus such as our undergraduate open days and Graduation, to exhibitions, fairs and events across the region and nationally. You will be responsible for planning, organising and delivering this range of activities throughout the year to support our challenging recruitment objectives in a highly competitive and changing Higher Education sector.
Working closely with the wider team you will also support the recruitment, training, supervision and coordination of a large pool of student ambassadors to support event activity.
The role will require close working with immediate team colleagues but also the wider Marketing & Communications Directorate, including the Schools Liaison and Partnerships Team, International Marketing & Student Recruitment, Creative Services and Market Research.
A full driving license or equivalent mobility is required along with a willingness to travel as you may be required to undertake a significant amount of travel to various locations within the UK in a timely manner. This may include long distance motorway and driving in unfamiliar hire cars to places which would be hard to reach using public transport.
This is a challenging role with a lot of responsibility that will develop a range of highly relevant and sought-after skills.
