About the role

As part of this process Psychology has expanded rapidly both in terms of research activity and number of students studying undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. 

We are currently seeking a technician to join our dynamic team. The primary function of this role is to provide technical services within the Psychology Department to support learning & teaching, research and income generating activities.  This includes providing practical and technical support to undergraduate, postgraduate and research student projects, manage the booking system for the experimental facilities, equipment and staff and student time, ensure a safe working environment within all the specialist laboratories and facilities, and perform administrative duties as appropriate for the position.

You will hold a first degree in Psychology or a related discipline and demonstrate basic knowledge of the types of psychology and neuroscientific instruments typically adopted in empirical research. You should have a practical working knowledge and understanding of software programs used in Psychology to analyse data, set up (online) experiments and manage participation databases.

This position is campus based and full-time.

The Department of Psychology has undergone a period of rapid expansion resulting in a vibrant research and learning culture. Facilities supporting our teaching and research include eye-tracking (with 6 mobile and static eye trackers), virtual reality, brain stimulation (tDCS, TMS), electrophysiological recording (EEG), and behavioural (14+ research booths) laboratories as well as fMRI provided by the Institute of Medical Imaging and Visualisation, nutrition laboratories provided by the Department of Nutrition Science.
