Lecturer in Midwifery 0.9FTE (fractional hours may be available)
Midwifery academics are vital to the future of the midwifery profession and Bournemouth University is investing in this future by recruiting and developing new lecturers. We are seeking to recruit a midwife with a keen desire to share their clinical experience, contemporary knowledge and enthusiasm for research. We can offer exciting opportunities for career development, support to gain further qualifications, and mentoring from our experienced academic team.
You will facilitate learning in the pre-registration BSc (Hons) programme as well as supporting some post-registration and postgraduate leaning. Our midwifery team provides education to students on the Lansdowne campus in Bournemouth and at Lakeside Harbour North in Portsmouth, and we link to seven different NHS Trust. Everyone in the team works on both campus sites as required, although this post is primarily linked to our Bournemouth Campus. Our large and well-established BSc (hons) programme is delivering an innovative new curriculum, incorporating an online Midwifery Ongoing Record of Achievement. The programme holds Gold Unicef BFI accreditation and has a well-recognized student continuity caseload scheme. Bournemouth University offers an exciting opportunity to work collaboratively with internationally acclaimed researchers within the Centre for Midwifery, Maternal and Perinatal Health and to engage with interprofessional colleagues and external partners to develop an excellent student experience.
You must be registered on the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Register (Midwifery). We are particularly keen to receive applications from those with existing units at Masters level. At BU our vision is to create a stimulating, challenging and rewarding university experience for our future health professionals, and academics at Bournemouth University have a ‘fused’ role that includes education, research and professional practice. As such, if you have not yet had the opportunity to undertake research, we would support you to develop in this area and achieve a doctorate within 5 years of appointment. An understanding of education practice is desirable, and you will be supported to gain qualifications/professional recognition in this area.
This position will not typically meet the eligibility requirements for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker Route within the UK Visa and Immigration service’s Points Based System, unless exceptional circumstances apply, e.g. meeting the ‘new entrant’ criteria.
