We are seeking a highly motivated Research Assistant to join an exciting project investigating volatile organic compounds (VOCs) as diagnostic biomarkers of skin cancer. You will work closely with the Principal Investigator, Professor Richard Paul, and a collaborative research team to support the collection and analysis of patient samples.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Collecting and analysing VOC samples from skin cancer patients.
• Conducting laboratory-based GCMS analysis.
• Maintaining accurate research records in accordance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP).
• Preparing supporting study documentation, such as consent forms and participant information sheets.
• Contributing to research publications and dissemination activities under supervision.
This role requires excellent communication skills, empathy, and professionalism when working with patients and clinical staff.
About you
You will bring:
• Expertise in SPME collection of VOCs and GCMS analysis.
• Knowledge of analytical chemistry techniques relevant to biomarker research.
• Experience of GCMS acquisition and data analysis software.
• Strong communication, administrative and writing skills.
• A commitment to high-quality research and the ability to work to deadlines.
