About the role

The Research Excellence and Governance team plays a leading role in supporting research excellence at Bournemouth University, through research ethics, governance, impact, and reporting. The opportunity has arisen for one creative and proactive REF Lead to support the Head of Research Excellence and Governance in preparing and submitting strategic research submissions and initiatives, provide expert guidance on statutory returns, and lead a small team focused on enhancing research quality, impact, and visibility across the University.

This pivotal role involves providing expert guidance to senior academic and professional colleagues, leading initiatives to enhance research quality and impact, and managing key staff within the research excellence and governance team. The successful candidate will play a strategic role in shaping research assessment processes, advising on national developments, and contributing to the University’s BU2035 implementation plan, while representing research excellence at senior committees.

This position will not typically meet the eligibility requirements for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker Route within the UK Visa and Immigration service’s Points Based System, unless exceptional circumstances apply, e.g. meeting the ‘new entrant’ criteria.
